We are Highlander Racing

UC Riverside’s Formula SAE Team is one of FSAE’s strongest up and coming contenders. As a first-year team in 2014, we accomplished building a working vehicle, passing full technical inspection, and competing with top caliber universities.

In 2018, we competed with a newly designed Internal Combustion Engine vehicle and placed 49th overall. In 2019, we competed with our first electric vehicle, taking home a top 20 finish.

Each student brings their own crucial skills to the team, including mechanical design, electrical design, marketing, finance, and fabrication. This diversification, along with a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication, strengthens the core of our team.

Mission Statement

Highlander Racing (previously known as the Society of Automotive Engineers @ UCR) exists to foster professional relationships with global industry leaders as we build and maintain sponsor relations and our extensive alumni network. We aim to apply the knowledge we are taught in the classroom to develop our skills by overcoming challenges in real world scenarios.

Formula SAE

Formula SAE is an international competition for student groups to design, manufacture, and race formula-style race cars. Each year our team of talented and passionate students plan, design, finance, and build a bespoke vehicle for a national level competition with a myriad of universities from around the world.

Our 2022 Vision

As we step into the 2022 competition year, we aim to streamline our design and manufacturing process to bring our testing horizon into early spring to give the team ample time to make our electric vehicle as reliable and innovative as possible. With our experience gained in the 2019 competition year, as well as the COVID-19 Pandemic, we expect great things from our new vehicle and our strengthened team composition.
