HR20-E’s accumulator is a complete redesign from HR19-E’s water-cooled pouch cell architecture based on a design driver to maximize reliability at the lowest weight possible. With thermal analysis to support opting for ditching a water cooled battery, a sub-50 kg accumulator was a possibility. To accommodate the new motor choice, a system voltage step up to 400 V was necessary, reducing the bus current and some of the prior heat transfer necessities. A more conservative energy usage prediction was factored into the architecture, increasing the pack capacity from 6.5 kWh to 8 kWh.
